Bonuses as Loss Leaders
At times casinos will offer huge bonuses or loss leaders to get you to try their games and some may offer no bonus at all.
You have probably seen at times where retail stores offer a discount or a give away to get you to shop there. Even banks have been known to offer a deposit bonus or rebate on a credit card if you become a regular customer.
Casinos do it too.
Bonuses Have Terms
One thing new players may not be aware of is that most sign up or initial deposit bonuses have strict terms associated with them. It is often not always just free money.
As an example, if you are offered 100$ deposit bonus, this means that if you deposit $100, you get a bonus of $100, giving you $200 bankroll to play with. Great so far.
However, the bonus likely had terms associated with it, as an example it might only be good on slots. And most likely there are cashout terms as well.
Continuing the Bonuses Example
Let’s use the above example of $100 deposit and $100 bonus. Most likely the bonus will have what is known as a rollover requirement, or a playthrough requirement.
In this example, consider the casino might have a 30X Playthrough. This usually means deposit and bonus. So, you would need to play through bet amounts equal to or above 30 times the deposit and bonus.
The rollover required in that example would be $6000, before you could cash out or withdraw funds won during that bonus play.
Some times the bonus can not be used at all on table games such as blackjack, or the amounts bet on blackjack do not count fully toward the rollover requirement. Be sure to read the bonus terms before making a deposit.
Are Bonuses Worth Taking
Even though there are restrictions and terms place on a deposit bonus, we still think they are worth taking. Especially when trying out a casino you have never played at before.
As a new player this gives you a good opportunity to have a good look around, play a number of different games and get a good feel for the property.
For the more seasoned players, especially those that rarely play slots and most likely will concentrate on blackjack or other table games, that recommendation might change.
If the bonus you do take it fr the specific games you will play, and the terms seem reasonable, then take the bonus if you like.
We have some places we take the bonus, and some places we do not depending on the type of gaming we plan on playing.
No Deposit Bonuses
Visitors like you will sometimes ask why we do not feature more No Deposit Bonuses.
Wile a no deposit bonus is effective in allowing you to try out a casino and the games they offer, we have found they are often promoted incorrectly.
Most such bonuses are strictly limited to slots, which is good for slot players. Many will have cash out limits and restrictions. Providing you understand that and you really only want to use the bonus as a way to just look around and decide if you will later become a regular player, they are great for that.
While we may show a no deposit bonus on a casino review for you if one exists, just know that they will not often be a top feature, beyond an introduction type of offer.
Bonuses for Blackjack
Yes bonuses for blackjack and other table games do exist.
Admittedly, they are a little bit more rare or less promoted, but you may be offered them at times.
Be sure you read the bonus terms focusing on rollover requirements and what games may be available on such a bonus if you take one. Some table game bonuses may be less restrictive while others may not and each individual casino will have their own terms.
We will try to let you know about the best blackjack and other table games bonuses in our reviews when they are offered.
